Tips to Keep Your Skin Hydrated This Fall

Hi Reader

As we start to transition into the cooler months of fall, many of us start to notice our skin feeling a bit drier than usual. The drop in humidity, combined with cooler air and indoor heating, can easily lead to dehydration and dry skin. Here are some practical tips to help you keep your skin hydrated and healthy from the inside out during this season.

1. Stay Hydrated with Water

The first step to keeping your skin hydrated is ensuring you’re drinking enough water. A good rule of thumb is to aim for at least half your body weight in ounces each day. For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, try to drink around 75 ounces of water daily.

However, if you're meeting your water intake goals and still experiencing dry skin, it may be a sign that you need to do more to maintain hydration, especially as the cooler weather sets in.

2. Add Electrolytes to Your Routine

Incorporating electrolytes like sodium, potassium, and magnesium can help your body retain water more effectively. I personally like using LMNT salt packs, which can easily be added to water. They contain a balanced mix of electrolytes that can help combat dehydration and keep your skin from drying out.

3. Incorporate Healthy Fats

Consuming omega-rich oils can help nourish your skin from the inside out. Consider adding omega-3 fatty acids into your diet through supplements or foods like salmon, flaxseeds, and walnuts. These healthy fats strengthen your skin’s barrier, helping it retain moisture and stay smooth.

4. Collagen Supplements

Collagen is a key component of skin health, and taking collagen supplements can improve skin elasticity and hydration. It supports your skin’s ability to retain moisture, so incorporating collagen into your daily routine can be a game changer as we head into the drier months.

5. Other Helpful Tips

  • Humidify Your Environment: Using a humidifier in your home or bedroom can add moisture back into the air, which helps keep your skin hydrated.
  • Eat Hydrating Foods: Foods like cucumbers, oranges, watermelon, and leafy greens have high water content and can contribute to your overall hydration.
  • Limit Hot Showers: As tempting as it is to take long, hot showers in cooler weather, hot water can strip your skin of natural oils, making it drier. Opt for lukewarm water instead.

By following these tips, you'll be setting yourself up for glowing, hydrated skin all fall long. If you have any questions or would like more suggestions on how to combat dry skin, feel free to reach out!

Hello beautiful, As we step into a new year, I’ve been sitting with something that feels important to share. While I deeply believe in setting intentions, reflecting on goals, and making plans, I don’t believe January 1st is the moment we’re meant to execute them. In nature, January is a time of rest. The earth is quiet. Seeds are underground. Roots are strengthening. Everything is...
